Physical examination

A detailed physical examination is still the most important and basic tool in the pediatric cardiology field.

Through the important anamnestic questions with focus on the complaints and the body status, together with the physical examination we can in advance make a differential diagnosis and focus our further examination on the necessary issues.

For the examination you will need to bring for your child/baby changing diapers and comfortable clothes. As the cardiac organs are situated behind the sternum in the thorax, your child should carry comfortable clothes which are easy to wear off and on. You should also bring something to drink for your child (if it is still drinking bottle bring one with you) and if possible also bring with you a towel to put on the examination bed.

Don’t forget to bring some patience with you as the examination might take a bit longer than you thought it will. We are dealing here with children and not with adult patients.
